Результаты проведённого исследования
2 groups of students have prepared their own opinions:
Group #1: How can we keep our health? What does a healthy lifestyle mean?
The projects and resources on this page will help you explore all these questions. You won't find boring lectures about how to eat better, how much to exercise, or what your ideal weight should be. Instead, you will find exciting hands-on projects and activities that help you understand the biology behind good nutrition and heart-healthy exercise and their connection to obesity and diseases. The more you know about the science of good health, the better choices you can make for your own health!
What is a Healthy Lifestyle? According to a study by Michigan State University, a healthy lifestyle is defined by four basic criteria:
- Not smoking
- Holding weight down
- Eating right
- Exercising
Of the 153,000 respondents, only 3% participated in all four of what are termed healthy lifestyle characteristics.
“We have millions of people now going through adult life leading unhealthy lifestyles and a medical system that can treat illnesses and keep you alive longer than ever before,” said Mathew Reeves, a Michigan State University epidemiologist. “If we don’t turn this around, the costs to society are going to be crippling.” What can be done to help people change?
Everyone talks about achieving it, but most people have plenty of excuses as to why they can’t, won’t, or don’t want to change their current status. The most common excuse people make for not trying to have a healthy lifestyle is “a lack of time.” Have you ever said to yourself, “Oh, I’m tired, I don’t have time to exercise?” or “I don’t feel like cooking dinner tonight; let’s just get some fast food.”
Time and health always seem to be at odds with each other. We have time to work, time to commute, time for our business associates, but very little time to spend on ourselves, people we love, or even random people who deserve our attention.
What can you do in 10 minutes or less?
More than you think. In a brief 10 minute window you can release tension, prevent future frustrations, get your blood flowing, etc. In fact, here are 50 things you can do. With time out as an excuse, what are you going to begin doing differently tomorrow? I don’t care what it is, the point is, just do something!
Group #2: What kinds of sport are popular today? What is more effective for pupils’ health?
Pupils should do excersises every day, because of different reasons:
1) to lose weight
2) to have fun
3) to win competitions
4) just to be able to say they did it
5) another accomplishment
6) forced by parents
7) peer pressure
8) to gain weight
9) to get stronger (mentally and physically)
10) to feel happier
11) to be healthier, live longer
12) to impress someone they like
13) to gain confidence
Sports play an important part in the life in Russia and is a popular leisure activity: volleyball, football, tennis, basketball, skating, skiing and ice hockey.
Ice Hockey
Ice Hockey is very popular because Russia is cold with lots of frozen lakes in the winter. The Russian national hockey team has always dominated the world championship held by IIHF and has also medaled several times in the Winter Olympics. There are also many Russians on NHL teams in the U.S. and Canada.
Tennis
The country produces fairly successful achievements in tennis. Maria Sharapova was ranked number one in the WTA. In addition, there are also many other outstanding tennis players, such as Elena Dementieva, Dinara Safina and Vera Zvonareva.
Skiing
Young sportsmen adore snowboarding and Alpine skiing. Ski resorts all around the country become more and more popular, especially among the youth. It's not enough for snowboarders just to be able to surf down the slide. It's a must for every respected boarder to show at least 5 different stunts, otherwise he or she would not be considered "cool". There is nothing more attractive for Russian people in winter than skiing for the whole day and then sitting with friends, chatting and drinking hot tea. The equipment for Alpine skiing and snowboarding is quite expensive, but young sportsmen use the equipment that they rent at the ski resorts.
Skating
You can't forget about another favourite winter sport of the Russians — it is skating and particularly figure skating. Nowadays many people attend outdoor or indoor skating-rinks where they can skate even in summer.
But still many people watch sport programmes on TV and are sure that they can be called sport-lovers. Some of them are keen on attending football and hockey matches at the stadium in order to feel a unique atmosphere. There is a huge amount of football fans in Russia. The sense of empathy is very common for Russian people. The team spirit lives in them, that is why they are always ready to support their compatriots at any championship. Although there are many good professionals in such famous football clubs as Zenit, Spartak, Rubin and Locomotive, their achievements are not very great, but even this fact can't influence the fans' attitude to their favourite teams.
