Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods from the four food groups to feel good and maintain your health. Eating well along with being active can also lower your risk of disease and help you reach--and maintain--a healthy weight.
Four food groups:
1. Vegetables and Fruit
2. Grain Products
3. Milk and Alternatives
4. Meat and Alternatives
The following foods and drinks should be consumed only occasionally and in limited quantities because they are high in calories, fat, sugar, and/or sodium.
1. cakes and pastries
2. cookies and granola bars
3. ice cream and frozen desserts
4. chocolate and candies
5. doughnuts and muffins
6. French fries and other fast foods
7. nachos
8. potato chips
9. alcohol
10. fruit-flavoured drinks
11. soft drinks
12. sports and energy drinks
13. sweetened hot or cold drinks
Here are 11 healthy living principles everyone should practice:
1. Eat less by eating more.
2. Eat a well balanced breakfast.
3. Pack your lunch.
4. Eat fruits or veggies with every meal.
5. Drink Water
6. Cook More at Home
7. Buy Local and Choose Organic
8. Be Physically Active
9. Sleep Enough
We have been following these principles for a month and our mood have become better, some students, who have suffer from excess weight, have lost it, skin condition has improved and we have become more active and get tired very seldom.
The benefits of a healthy lifestyle are enormous. We want you to know that you can:
• live longer
• vastly decrease the need for medicines
• have more energy
• lose weight
• prevent and even reverse heart disease
• lower your risk of cancer
• preserve your eyesight in your later years
• lower your blood pressure
• prevent and treat diabetes
