We have learned how Halloween traditions have changed over time and across cultures. Halloween is more than just costumes and sweets. It has a rich history and deep cultural roots.

1. Origin of Halloween
 +
Halloween started over 2,000 years ago as a Celtic festival called Samhain. This festival marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. The Celts believed it was a time when the line between the living and the dead was blurred. People lit bonfires and wore costumes to scare away spirits.

2. Medieval Changes
 +
When Christianity spread, Samhain transformed. It became All Hallows’ Eve, a day to honor saints and pray for the dead. People began "souling," which is similar to modern trick-or-treating, where they went door to door asking for food in exchange for prayers.

3. Halloween in the USA
 +
Immigrants brought Halloween to America in the 19th century. Over time, it changed into the holiday we know today. By the 20th century, Halloween became more about fun than fear. Trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, and costume parties became the main traditions.

Today, globalization has spread Halloween to many countries. Some adapt the American style with costumes and candy, while others blend it with their local customs. Technology and social media have also changed Halloween by making it a worldwide celebration.

In conclusion, I learned that Halloween is celebrated differently in many cultures and countries. In America, it is about costumes, candy, and fun decorations. In Ireland, where Halloween started, old traditions like lighting fires and sharing special food were important. In Mexico, the "Day of the Dead" is similar but focuses on remembering family, not scary things. Each culture has unique ways to celebrate, but all of them make the day special. Modern trends have changed many old traditions. Now, Halloween is more commercial. People buy costumes and decorations from stores. Social media and movies show Halloween as a fun holiday for everyone, not just children. Traditional customs, like lighting fires or telling ghost stories, are not so popular anymore. But some things, like pumpkins and dressing up, remain a part of the celebration. Halloween today is about fun, creativity, and being together.
