You don't want to get to your retirement without some kind of investment that will feed you at that time. Sure you have social security, but you know better than anyone else that that is hardly enough. Seriously, you don't want to be a burden to your kids at that time, making them fend for your every need like you are some toddler. That would just be demeaning. Save up, invest, and make sure that your pension is on point.
A lot of people in the world are unaware of what retirement really is. It is the time when you should begin to lookout for yourself and no longer for others. It is a time when you have nothing to do but things that you want to do. If you never had such plans, you will quickly find yourself hating every moment of it. Think you can manage that?
Your retirement can only be as sweet as you plan it plan it to be. If you don't plan it well, you get to live an unenviable life in your old age, which is not very good. But if you did plan it with all the mind that you have, there is no telling just how good things may suddenly become in those years. You know how they say: aim for the sun and you might hit the stars, eh?
After all that you have learnt and acquired while you worked, you should see your retirement as a time to give back to the system, and perhaps to derive a little something from it also. If nothing else, at least, learn to give of what you have acquired back to society, and you may find unspeakable joy to last you through your latter years in retirement.
Its never a pretty sight when you see an old person, retired, and never able to leave their home because their joints are riddled with arthritis. But they could have helped it, you know. They could have done some workout every day, and things would never have gotten that bad.
