With all the development of mankind, the speed of exploitation of nature has increased substantially as time passes that has ended in global warming. The main reason behind global warming is greenhouse effect which is the heating of the surface of the planet due to the emission of infra-red radiation within the environment. There are many reasons behind greenhouse effect that can be classified into human-made reasons as well as natural causes. Among the natural causes are the emission of gases like nitrous oxide, carbon- dioxide, methane, ozone and water vapor. On the other hand, other causes like green house gas emissions as a result of human-made causes create havoc towards the atmosphere.

Green house gas emissions are mainly caused by human actions of which coal-fired power plants are considered to be the greatest contributors. Actually, this accounts for 20% in the total green house gas emissions. These pollutants are already the key cause of respiratory problems that humans suffer from at the moment. Children, who have vulnerable body systems, are more at risk from the hazards resulting from these green house or GHG emissions.

Dangerous and long-lasting industrial gases are produced from factories. These gases don’t occur naturally yet they lead to climate change and accelerate the greenhouse effect. The greater GHG emissions within the environment, the harder infrared rays will be trapped and held. This in turn will increase the temperature of earth in a progressive manner, posing risk to the existence of mankind. One certainly can’t deny the fact that global warming is here now and this will cause more harm in the future years.

Human actions must be altered to ensure the excess contribution towards the concentration of these GHG emissions should really be reduced in the future. Using recycled goods, unplugging electrical appliances when not in use, using energy saving gadgets together with reforestation can go far in bringing the greenhouse gases back to normal concentration levels thereby making our planet more welcoming towards the continual development of life.
