LED Downlights Device Installation Suggestions

LED downlights are often as easy to attach as any normal incandescent light bulb. Most applications require plugging them into a wall socket that operates off your mains Alternating Current (AC 110-230V) and since very good quality LED lights have their own built-in transformers, it's a plug and play, DIY process that can be easily and immediately achieved without the need of transformers on every single downlight, which is often the annoying case when running halogens. However, it is vitally important to note that there are a few circumstances that require a lot more tinkering in order that your LED Downlights work on best level and don't get harmed in the process.

Two essential considerations to think about when installing your LED lights are whether your downlights will be operating off a Direct Current (DC 12V) assembly or whether you are utilizing a dimmable option. In both cases, it is really important to ensure that you have the best hardware setup so that your LED Downlights can shine their best for a prolonged duration of their operating lives.

To start with, if you would like to run your downlights off a 12V DC system, you'll have to purchase MR16 (socket type) downlights and have the best transformer mounted. The Magnetic Transformer is the most widely used power modulating device for a lot of homes and businesses. The transformer type needs to optimally run your LED lights. These are also very cheap and you can source them at any electrical shop. If you've got one, then terrific - again it's a simple plug and play device. However, LED Downlights will NOT operate with an Electronic Transformer (or better known in the technical category as "Switch Mode Power Supply"). So, best option is to get your helpful neighborhood Sparky (electrician) to come in and have a look and find out as he will be able to recognize, source and exchange that necessary transformer.

It's worth citing that you should not run a blending of different lighting technologies on the same 12V circuit as you might experience a drop in illumination of your LED Downlights or they may not switch on at all. Having a 12V equipment it is either all LEDs or all Halogens.

Secondly, if you want to be capable to dim your led lights, then you'll need to purchase a dimmable LED Downlight option and get the right dimmer switch fitted. A Bell-Push Dimmer Switch is the ideal device used for regulating the increase or decrease of electric current to your dimmable LED Downlights and should be provided to you by your dimmable LED supplier when you make your purchase. LED lights will NOT run effectively (or NOT at all in some instances) with the old styled Push-Button dimmer control keys. Again, like the Magnetic Transformer, a Bell-Push Dimmer key is also necessary and slightly inexpensive to purchase.

So, if you necessitate a 12V LED Downlight or even a dimmable option (either on AC or DC currents) you might need to ensure you have a Magnetic Transformer ready or a Bell Push Dimmer Switch installed appropriately. This will ensure that your LED lights work at a 100% efficiency and live out their unbelievably long lives with no hassles. Be sure to follow the LED Downlights Installation guidelines as provided by your LED Lighting supplier and get the help of a trained electrician, as it is important to complete the installation securely and right the first time around.
