From the ruins of an place once often known as The united states lies the country of Panem, a shining Capitol flanked by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing every one of them to transmit one boy then one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in from the annual Watch The Hunger Games Online , a battle to the death on live TV .

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone together with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's devote the Games. But Katniss continues to be near to dead before-and survival, on her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she turns into a contender. However if the girl with to win, she'll have to begin making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Wow....just wow. Absolutely amazing. Honestly, just as emotional and fantastic as being the very first time I read it. I really don't know where to begin this review!

Two hundred years earlier, america was destroyed as well as in its midst rose the Capitol which consists of surrounding 13 districts. Each district features its own life style and for a period lived peacefully. However, after having a time, the districts rose up against the Capitol along with a rebellion ensued. Using its superior weaponry and technology, the Capitol defeated the districts and completely obliterated District 13. To exhibit the districts how superior Capitol is, annually two children, one boy then one girl from each district, are chosen to fight to your death from the Hunger Games. 24 enter, 1 is released. Allow the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games begin.

Y'all need to comprehend that we are not and emotional person in relation to books. No, I promise I'm not heartless, I merely don't cry easily. Yes, during books my heart rate accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, on the other hand don't actually cry. This can be one of the only books where I have come this close to tears. And thats saying something.

When I recieve into all of the emotional much of this book, I must first speak about the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's my favorite kind of heroine and I know that sometimes these commence to blend together but something I enjoy about her is the fact although she may be these products like numerous other heroines on the market, she's accomplishment lovable and witty like the majority of others. She's standoffish and a loner and it needs a long time for a person to get right through to her. She's mature beyond her years because she's being. She had become the sole supporter of her family at a real young age and it also hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this hard exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's at the front of her: the reality that people care about her. However, although its difficult to get past her hardened exterior, as soon as you do, she actually is a really kind and admirable person. This is particularly shown through her actions at the reaping. She cared a whole lot for her family she was ready to risk her life, with the knowledge that her chances for coming back home were slim, simply to keep her sister safe. If it is really not merit respect, next, i are not aware of what's.

Peeta is a great character. He's virtually the full complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly cares about Katniss whether or not she can't find it herself. Although you may do not get to understand to much about him because from Katniss' perspective, you are able to still notice that he has admirable qualities too. Normally I favor the alpha male as well as the bad-boy (I guess its kinda my weakness) even so do also are seduced by the sweet, respectful guys we fell head-over-heels for his heart.

As for secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in her own way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a bit to much, but has a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly loves Katniss even though he hardly knows her. The other tributes each had their own personalities that built them into unique (Don't even get me began on Rue!).

This book was only so incredibly emotional. 24 kids go into an arena and just 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine in their situation. I realize i always would do whatever it took to survive, but exactly how would that change me? Each tribute was only wanting to survive. They didn't wish to be there (well, except a number of), but were required to be. Whenever your facing your immediate death, how would you react? Survival changes people. These different reactions on their situations were shown remarkably well through the various tributes. Collins' does an amazing jobs of showing how people would fare in this case. While all of the bloodshed when it comes to itself is disturbing, maybe the most disturbing thing in my opinion was the reality that the people with the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and them that it was just entertainment. These folks were completely oblivious!! It turned out all simply a game directly to them. Provided that we were holding entertained, these people were happy. It turned out sick. Completely and utterly sick.

As well as boost the comfort, I felt awful to the other tributes, whilst they made an effort to kill Katniss and Peeta. How may you not? These were thrown right into a situation many weren't ready for and simply trying to get home. Although they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right in conjunction with Katniss. She, too, understands that these people were only doing the things they had to accomplish like she was.

The Hunger Games might be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is a beautiful story filled with survival, hope and fighting for what you like.
