You've got a list of things you need to do to get your home ready for showing. You can't believe you've got dozens upon dozens of things to do. If you cannot do everything the realtor would love to see then focus on the important parts and just do what you can. There is the concept of curb appeal, which is self explanatory, but that should alert you to the importance of the house exterior.
Inside the house, buyers would typically expect to see a well-maintained kitchen. Of course, everything inside and outside your house is important, but there are some parts of the house that are more important than the others when it comes to home showing.
Make sure the walkways in your property are looking good and are not littered with trash. Sweep away any trash and try to do is daily. Sweep away dirt as well. Check your walkways to make sure they're in good condition. Grab your garden hose and spray water on the pavements until they look clean. Use a stiff broom to remove any stubborn stain or dirt. Try lining your walkways with potted flowers to brighten them up a little.
Your garage floor and driveway need to be in good condition, without any obvious stains or damage. If you see long or big cracks, have them repaired right away. Just get some concrete that is of the ready-mix variety and fill in the cracks. This is super easy to do and will not take long and the unsightly cracks will be gone. Make sure that you clean the oil stains on your driveway and garage floor. Use a good oil stain remover, which you can get at any home improvement store.
An accumulation of dirty and grease around your stove's ventilation fans is not a pretty sight and can actually turn off many buyers. Grease and dirt naturally accumulate in the ventilation fans, but it's important that you clean them with a good degreaser cleaner so prospective buyers won't be turned off. Prospective buyers will be imagining themselves in their kitchen and if your kitchen looks great, they're a lot more likely to seriously consider making an offer on your house. In fact, that is one of the first rooms that many people look at when they are evaluating a house for purchase. There is much more you can do in the kitchen but the most basic thing is that it must be sparkly clean and smelling fresh. You don't have to go through a lot of stress in the process of showing your home. You can minimize your stress by being organized from the start. Also, make sure you don't go over the budget you set for making improvements to your home. Even if you have plenty of money, don't overlook the little details because they are an important part of the equation.
