Your second year of college is the perfect time to join the SGA (Student Government Association). Freshmen often do not get heard from people on campus. Join different associations during your first year on campus, and wait until you are ready before you consider joining the student government.

Don't ignore the importance of study breaks! Studying is important and breaks are too. Take a ten minute or longer break during each hour that you study. Make a schedule and stick with it.

If you have an internship, make sure you do as good as possible in this position, even if it has no relation to your major. Experience is always more important than education. If you work hard in this type of position, you can pay down your student debt while gaining valuable experience.

Study abroad programs often include children. People think it's impossible, but it's not. Consult with the school counsellors or study abroad coordinators to find out what's possible. Look into these things and don't rule out study abroad opportunities just because you have a family.

Try not to become distracted by romantic interests. You have to focus on what will benefit your future instead. Your education is of primary importance. You can date, but keep school in the forefront of your mind. You don't want your studies to suffer because failing is expensive in the long term.

Contact the person in charge of the school's study abroad program. While you won't be able to partake in every international program, you may be surprised by how many are within your reach.

Remember to watch your food intake. The concept of Freshman 15 is no myth. Pay close attention to what you eat. Resist the temptation to grab junk food from a vending machine or go on a late-night pizza binge. Though such items are quick and inexpensive, but they do not offer the nutrients you really need.

Eat as healthy as possible during your time at college. Remember the 'freshman fifteen'? The better you eat, the better your brain will work, too. Avoid eating too much junk food and fast food. Although this may see seem like a quick and affordable solution, the pounds can slowly start to creep up on you. Also, you won't be receiving the energy that you need in order to perform at your best in class.
