Nfc Technology Professionals Smart phones today are more than just devices for talking. Gone are the days when we only rely on our mobile phones to communicate with our families or friends. Today, some smart phones can be used to pay for our bills, gather information from other devices, and even socialize with other people. This trend is made possible by NFC enabled smart phones which allow users to utilize their devices other than calling or texting a friend.

What is NFC and how it Works Near Field Communication or NFC is a system that allows you to communicate or gather data using the electromagnetic radio fields emitted by NFC enabled devices. The system is similar to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi since it allows transfer or exchange of data wirelessly. It is also similar to RFID but with the exception that NFC devices has to be within close proximity to each other to work.

Sharing or acquiring of data in NFC is possible in two ways. Exchange can either be passive or active.

Passive devices like an NFC tag contain data which other devices can read. A good example is barcodes provided in magazines. The barcode is considered passive since it needs another NFC enabled device to extract the information contained in the barcode.

The other type is active which are electronic devices which can extract information from a passive NFC. In the example above, the active device is the NFC enabled smart phones. You can use your phone to read information on passive tags and you can even share or alter the information if such action is allowed. Nfc Devices

NFC Technology on Android Devices Android users can now enjoy the NFC technology because the platform allows NFC data to be acquired and shared.

Currently, there are brands equipped with NFC system. Samsung, LG, HTC, and Sony have fitted their phones with NFC technology so users can simply gather and share data through electromagnetic radio field. Other function of NFC on android includes interpreting data from a passive tag. You can also download a third party app that would turn your android phone into a barcode scanner so you can get additional data and even pair your device with other phones.

These days, a person, an animal, or an object can be identified in a state of the art manner using a wireless non-contact technology through radio-frequency identification or RFID. This is possible through the radio frequency electromagnetic fields emitted by the RFID chip. It is in this frequency that information is transferred and interpreted by a RFID reader. An object fitted with RFID tag for example can be identified what it is or where it is currently located using the data stored in the tag which will be read by the RFID reader.

Uses of RFID Currently, RFID system is widely used in different industries. Industries that rely on identification and tracking use RFID to manage their assets and inventories properly. For example, RFID tags are used in mobile phone production. Workers can easily follow the progress of the devices by simply scanning the items. RFID technology is also used in livestock because tracking farm animals is important to maintain quality control inside the farm. Even if a farmer has hundreds of cows in his farm, he can identify his prized cow by merely scanning the RFID chip embedded in the animal.

RFID system is also applied in transfer of payment electronically. Mobile phones equipped with RFID chip can be used to pay for items electronically while the device can also be used as an RFID reader. The chip inside these devices contains your bank account information so you can use your phone to pay for items in the same manner as you would use your credit card. Since the tag can store sensitive details, enhanced security features are added to secure your information. You need to input your password or pin before releasing any valuable information.

RFID Technology Today These days, it is possible to tag assets and inventories without having to shell out a large portion of your funds. You can even purchase a RFID tag and a scanner for a couple of dollars in electronic shops. This technology is even available for personal use such as in tagging your pets so you can easily track your cat or dog. This is ideal for pets which have the tendency to stray because a RFID tag and a reader such as a RFID USB reader can trace and identify the animal with ease.
