H Oldman is just a chameleon. He does not mind scary tasks. He morphed in to Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK. He was Beethoven in Immortal Beloved. Mia Farrow was excellent in Woody Allen's Broadway Danny Rose. We're always on her behalf side. Female actors were often led by allen to Oscars. Remember the benefits for Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest and Mia Sorvino? Before that movie she was supportive and frightened to death in Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby.
Steve Martin is included in the group. We were amazed by him in Every Of Me with Lily Tomlin. Yes, there is slapstick, but he showed great comedy chops. It absolutely was a different Steve Martin in Roxanne. He did a fresh version of Cyrano. And it was loved by us. The Academy did not.
