Less Wastage - Die cut printing allows for less wastage of material around the cut out shapes as compared to other cutting methods as dies can be placed quite close. This in turn also reduces costs associated with loss of material. Standalone die cutting machines generally cost from around $300 to around $500, and the design cartridges other than the one that comes with the machine have to be purchased separately. The Xyron Wishblade costs around $400 for the initial investment, but it is an attractive option over the long term because there aren't design cartridges to purchase like with the standalones. Instead, the Xyron Wishblade uses fonts already on your computer, or downloaded from font websites. The Wishblade can use any True Type font. If you do plan to use this machine with a computer, keep in mind that the software is not currently compatible with the Mac, although Craftwell promises that you won't have to wait too much longer for a Mac compatible version. These scrapbook kits are not only for cutting and pasting the pictures and making an album. But you can also draw, paint or colour the pictures. Decorate the album with your own hands and explore your hidden creativity. It gives you an immense pleasure when you recall the good old days while turning the leaves of your old scrapbook you decorated yourself. Dies - A wide variety of dies for form cutting are available - alphabets, A bouquet of flowers, animals, borders and edges, textured impressions, faded impressions for embossing and many more. And if you don't find what you're looking for, Sizzix can custom make a die for you within a reasonable price. You can have a mascot, a logo, an original artwork....you are only limited by your imagination..! Of course, the manual ones tend to be a lot less expensive than the electronic ones. The trade off, however, is that the electronic ones allow you to do a lot more and can be a great buy if you plan on cutting paper frequently.
