When asked, the majority of individuals in the US would claim that there greatest worry is getting up in front of a crowd and giving a speech. Individuals 100 years ago would not say that public speaking was their worst worry, but they had more threatening issues to worry about proper? Im talking about issues like war, and wild animals, and rampant crime without great law enforcement. The reality that our society is much more tame is perhaps element of this strange fear of a relatively benign circumstance but doesnt explain it entirely. I want to talk about why we are so afraid and measures that can be taken to place our fears to rest.

So why are we so afraid of public speaking? Effectively for a single point not quite many of us are very good at it and we dont know how to get greater. Public oration was a ability highly valued in the past and as a result it was some thing that was worked on with much effort and time in school. My answer? Nicely either picture all the horrible things that are much worse than the agony of embarrassment. Or you could actually take the time to get trained (not recommended unless your job calls for that you do it all the time). Or you could just give up on the senseless traditions of the past that were essential of people that were considerably better trained to do public speaking.
