Rats like bird food. If you have bird houses, make sure the food is sealed right. Store extra seeds in a container that rodents cannot get in, such as metal. In addition, place the container in a spot high enough that the rats cannot get to it.

Do you have a compost pile to fertilize your garden? Compost can attract bugs. Make sure you keep your pets and kids away from the compost, and set up the pile far from your house. It's best, too, to keep the compost away from any plants you like, as the bugs may eat any nearby plants.

Fight your fight against wasp nests and beehives at night. It's possible for homeowners to remove these hives and nests on their own with a spray foam that can be bought from their local hardware store. You can spray these foams from safe distances. You should aim to spray a beehive during the nighttime because this is the time that bees aren't very active. Once you do this, monitor the hive a few days, and if necessary, respray it. Once you are certain there is no more bee activity, remove the hive.

If you need to make doubly sure that no termites remain in your home, use a termite-sniffing dog to check for the presence of termites. If an inspector checks your house on his own, he is only able to confirm that you are about one-third free of termites. A dog with the right training is able to check about 100 percent of the house. These dogs can pick up the scent of methane gas which is caused by termites.

No one wants to think about possible microscopic bugs crawling in their bed and other particular living areas. It can be helpful to eliminate dust-mites, even if you are not allergic to them. Wash your bedding in really hot water every week and use pillow covers that aren't permeated.

Sometimes rats and mice decide that your stored camper or travel trailer would make a nice winter home. Try using natural repellents to keep them away during all seasons of the year. You can get nicely scented sachets of repellent that you will like, but mice will hate them.

Fleas are notoriously hard to rid your home of, however, there are quite a few things that are able to help you if you wish to rid yourself of them. The first step to effectively ridding your home of fleas is to vacuum daily, then spray with an effective flea spray. Don't forget to throw the vacuum bag in the trash outside when you're done vacuuming.

Because bedbugs hide in secluded areas, they are tough to eradicate. All holes should be sealed before beginning any type of extermination. That way, you will not have any bugs running out of those holes once the extermination process is long over.

It is not necessarily easy to eliminate pests from a home. It can take quite some time to rid a home of unwelcome creatures. Use the above advice to eliminate pests, for good. You'll be able to enjoy a peaceful night's rest without worrying about pests.
