There is every cause to be optimistic about the future of a child with Autism, for as long as the appropriate assistance is started early."

Dr Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Manage and Prevention, concurs:

"Early diagnosis is related to better results. The earlier children are detected, the earlier they might get solutions, and the less damage they may have on their studying and within their lives on a long-term foundation is our best understanding."

Anna and her husband, Mary, began to discover some changes in their son's habits when he was 15 months old. Harry, who had previously been a chatty and contented toddle, began struggling to calm himself after outbursts and began fixating on the location of the toys in his nursery, throwing crying matches when they are not arranged in a certain way.

He speaking only when he needed to and became withdrawn, started to deny physical affection and avoiding eye contact.

Anna and Ben took Harry to visit a pediatric specialist on the suggestion of their private doctor, while they feared the investigation. After running a large number of assessments, she affirmed that Harry was suffering from Autism.

"So many feelings went through us", says Anna. "Panic, wrath, confusion and, more than anything, guilt: we experienced so guilty that we wasn't in a position to protect Harry from this situation."

Following a stringent behavior system that is personalized to his unique needs and abilities, Harry is now exhibiting considerable improvement in terms of his communication and social abilities, and is demonstrating an increased consciousness of how to handle his feelings in situations that he finds difficult.

And, while at first Anna and Tom struggled to come to phrases with the investigation, they are delighted that Harry was diagnosed relatively early.

Most Autism diagnoses in the United States continue to be produced once the child is between four and five years old. At this stage, the child's brain is significantly more created -- more of the 'hard-wiring' has been put in position -- and created routines are harder to change.

Possible signs

A young child having an Autistic Spectrum Condition may:

-Repeat actions or motions over and over again, for example rocking back and forth or tapping their hand or foot.

- Avoid direct eye contact and prefer to not have kisses and hugs

. - Not react when people talk to them, but respond to additional sounds around them.

- Not look at things when someone points to them.

While there's no known way to avoid incidences of Autism in kids, it can seem that early treatment is the solitary contracted process of ensuring the most positive outcome.

It is necessary for carers and parents to adhere to a structured behavioral system to give their child the best chance of advancement, once a diagnosis is made.
